The Return to Legality model in Medellin, which pursued the reintegration of former combatants of the AUC paramilitary forces to the civilian life, is framed in a process of Demobilization, Disarmament, and Reintegration (DDR), as understood by the international authorities. Considered as an inspiring paradigm, the model nonetheless displays features which make it a unique case and a model difficult to be replicated in whole, under circumstances different from those lived in the capital city of Antioquia.
