It is usually considered that artistic creation is oriented toward future, and archeology toward the past. Examination of the two practices shows that this opposition is misleading and that one and the other continued with the same strategies and techniques, the same objective: the creation of a world: resurgence of the world creation. Paradoxically, this creation is only possible after an inevitable process of destruction, as both are continually implemented. This process necessarily obeys the principle of contingency. It follows that the appearance of the world is ipso facto subject to this antinomy called "necessity of contingency" (Meillassoux).
