In this article, the author outlines three diaconal responses to the refugee crisis taking place in Germany: Diakonia Deutschland, Brot für der Welt , and Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe. She then outlines a potential, broader response, in eight steps, in which the EU can better protect people and care for their humanitarian needs, instead of geo-political borders.
