Congenital anophthalmia is a malformation that may be unilateral or bilateral, which occurs during the formation of the fetus with complete absence of one or both eyeballs and in the surrounding tissues, such as the orbit and eyelid opening, are smaller. It has its origins early in gestation, between the fourth and seventh weeks, as a result of a failure in the development of anterior neural tube or optic pit, when much of facial development occurs. Inadequate development of the eyeball has an effect on the growth of the orbit and its contents, which are crucial structures. It is presented a male patient term newborn, healthy, whose only birth defect was a right anopthalmus, who was attended in Oculoplasty consultation referred by his health area to assess the rehabilitation of the right anophthalmic cavity.
