In order to promote the scientific management of seascape and the construction of beautiful cities in China, this paper reviewed the evolution of seascape character assessment in the UK, in particular discussed assessment practice and implications of seascape management for China. The results showed that the UK had gradually developed seascape character assessment based on landscape character assessment, carried out seascape character assessment practice from national, regional and local levels, and paid attention to the research and development of key technologies and the connection of output results. In the future, the management of seascape should be strengthened, seascape be incorporated into the national landscape and the overall development of coastal zone be promoted with the help of information platform.
