The terrestrial squamates from Brazil are the Early Cretaceous Olindalacerta brasiliensis and Tijubina pontei from Ceará State; the Late Cretaceous Pristiguana brasiliensis from Minas Gerais State, Ophidia indet. and Aniloidea from São Paulo State. Squamates were widespread in western Gondwana and Laurasia landmasses, and iguanids and mainly snakes widely distributed in southern South America.
