Deskripsi

The renewal of approaches to borders that has taken place over the last twenty years has given rise to an exceptional proliferation of multidisciplinary research on a variety of themes including the securitization of migration policies, the intertwining of the security and humanitarian dimensions of the border regime, the role of borders in fuelling capitalism, the structural violence and lethal effect of borders, and the treatment of dead migrants. Despite the heterogeneity and richness of this research, it has two essential elements in common. On the one hand, they conceive of borders as a protean process, deterritorialized and constructed by social interactions. On the other hand, they are part of a critical and militant approach that produces an alternative knowledge conceived as a tool for politicization with a transformative aim.
