Deskripsi

Salmonella is a common cause of community-acquired gastrointestinal infection. Serious life-threatening infection such as meningitis is a rare occurrence. Both acute complications and long-term neurological sequelae can occur in infants with Salmonella meningitis, in whom mortality rates are high. Treatment with Ceftriaxone or Cefotaxime for 4 weeks or more is recommended for complete killing of the pathogen and to prevent relapse. We report a rare case of S. meningitis in a young infant, possibly acquired from the ingestion of unpasteurized cow milk.
