The paper describes the possibilities of genetic algorithm application by the reactive power flows’ optimization in Slovak power transmission system. The methods of reactive power flow calculation and the utilization of genetic algorithms for their minimalization are indicated in the paper. There are the results of calculated voltages and reactive power flows presented in chart and graphical format at the end of this paper.
