It’s an exploratory-descriptive research with aqualitative approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with mothers of children who attend aninstitution that cares for children with special needs. Data analysis pointed out some difficulties regarding to the socialinclusion of a child in an environment larger than the family one, with emphasis on: mobility and integration in socialgroups, such as school. We concluded that the main difficulties are related to public policies for access and inclusion; weunderstand the nurse’s role as promoter of health, who has to encourage and encourage these families in recovering theircitizenship
