This work is based on the study of several books which refer to eighteenth century economic literature. Our analysis deals with:The evolution of the themes and the increase in the number of books published; the discourse of the age of Enlightenment on agriculture.We will emphasize in our conclusions:The emergence of a new way of thinking that is characterized by new forms; the appearance and meaning of key concepts such as usefulness, decadence and progress; the conservative stance of the age of Enlinghtenment concerning agrarian problems.
