Este artículo trata de la participación de chilenos que se desempeñaron como combatientes e instructores militares, con grados de Oficiales, en las Fuerzas Armadas de Bolivia y Paraguay, durante la guerra del Chaco (1932-1935). Se dan a conocer las motivaciones, las primeras reacciones ante las contrataciones, y las repercusiones que dicha participación tuvo en los combatientes e instructores, como en sus familias, en Chile y los países beligerantes, a nivel oficial, organizaciones de la sociedad civil, y formadores de opinión.<br>This article deals with the participation of Chilean officers who were soldiers and military instructors in the Bolivian and Paraguayan Armed Forces during the Chaco War (1932-1935). It relates the motivations for and the first reactions to the military contracts, and the repercussions that said participation had on the soldiers and instructors, as well as on their families. It also speaks of the repercussions in Chile and in the warring countries at the official level, within social organisations and among opinion-makers.
