The current article presents a theoretical meta-analysis review of family`s grieving process caused by suicide, referencing the reciprocity between individual and group process. The relevant aspects of mourning, suicidal act and development of family mourning are described. Moreover, differences between suicide and other types of death are presented. The main conclusion is that the grieving process is altered. It is characterized by increased reactions -especially guilt-, which is related to the unexpectedness and uncertainty of death.
