Deskripsi

The Dialogue en forme de vision nocturne is the largest funeral poem ever written within the French court of Francis I. It has been composed in 1524 as a consolation work in evangelical context by Marguerite of Navarra (1492-1549), after the death of her niece Charlotte (1516-1524), king’s sister. This paper proposes a “translation” from Renaissance French to modern French of a sequence of 141 decasyllables out of the 1260 of the poem. The translation, mostly rhythmic, is followed by an explanation of the principles adopted to realize this work, with an analysis of the main rhythmic, syntactic and semantic difficulties.
