2,7-Bis(pyridin-4-ylethynyl)-9<i>H</i>-carbazole (<b>1</b>) was synthesized by reacting 4-ethynylpyridine hydrochloride with 2,7-dibromo-9<i>H</i>-carbazole. The full characterization of compound <b>1</b> is presented, and the crystal structure of its monohydrate was determined by single-crystal XRD analysis.
