The title compound, C16H22O3, is a useful intermediate in the synthesis of poly(amidoamine) dendrimers. The cyclohexane ring adopts a chair conformation. In the crystal structure, molecules are linked into centrosymmetric dimers by pairs of O—H...O hydrogen bonds.
