Two mixed‐ligand coordination polymers: Treatment activity on thyroid cancer

Abstract In the present work, two novel coordination polymers on the basis of Cu(II) are hydrothermally produced via utilizing 2,5‐dichloroterephthalic acid (H2DCTP), a halogenated linear ligand with the existence of diverse flexible nitrogen‐donor ligands of the 1,4‐bis(5,6‐dimethylbenzimidazol‐1‐yl)‐2‐butylene (L2) and the 1,1′‐(1,4‐butanediyl)bis‐1H‐benzimidazole (L1), and their chemical formulae are [Cu(L1)(DCTP)]n (1) and [Cu(L2)(DCTP)]n (2). The evaluation of two compounds’ treatment effect against the thyroid cancer was carried out, and meanwhile, their relevant mechanism was also studied. First of all, the cancer cells proliferation was detected through Cell Counting Kit‐8 (CCK‐8) detection kit. Furthermore, the JAK‐STAT signalling pathway activation has been assessed through employing real time RT‐PCR assay. Finally, the toxicity of the new compounds was evaluated with MTT assay.
