Article Highlights The paper presents a machine learning study using fiber-optic sensing data to evaluate the water absorption profile for oilfield water-injection purpose. The correlation model of distributed optical fiber vibration signal and water absorption profile type is obtained by XGBoost algorithm training. The VDM method is introduced to denoise the distributed fiber optic vibration signals to improve the classification effect of XGBoost algorithm recognition.
