Deskripsi
Among the Aegean Bronze Age instruments, the idiophone’s group is the smallest in terms of quantity. The sistrum is the most encountered within this group, although we do not know how the Minoans perceived this instrument. Scholars have often linked it to a religious or symbolic perception ; our aim here is to focus our study on the instrument itself. By approaching the object and its materiality, at both macroscopic and microscopic scales, we interrogate its actual use. The Cretan sistra bear many use-wear which must be taken into account and understood. By using an experimental approach it is possible to renew the inquiry on Bronze Age idiophones.
