Accelerated hypertension following therapeutic arterial embolization is a rare phenomenon. A patient of left upper limb chronic lymphedema was posted for shoulder disarticulation under general anaesthesia. Coil embolization of the left subclavian artery was done prior to surgery. Following the intervention, patient’s blood pressure increased by more than 30% of the base line value and was managed with antihypertensives for the next 3 hours to get the blood pressure optimised prior to taking the patient for surgery.
