Environmental crimes in Vietnam by far is seen in a complicated trend which requires the State to regulate effective sanctions policy. Provisions of environmental crimes promulgated in Vietnam’s criminal law have been amended for a number of times in order to meet the demanding requirement. It is shown that the awareness as well as the scope and method of using the sanctions to fight this kind of crime has been changed and raised. Moreover, these changes indicate that criminal policy in general and sanctions policy in particular for environmental crimes have been formed and basic factors have been identified. The paper is to figure out the development trend of the sanctions policy for environmental crimes in Vietnam throughout last time and to propose fundamental solutions to be prioritized in the policy implementationprocess.
