Governance is increasingly becoming the ultima ratio of spatial planning and sustainable development policies. These policies seem to use this concept because words are lacking to characterize the application of sustainable development on territories. Yet, the ambivalence raised by governance, sustainable development and the notion of territory highlights the difficult application of durability and the imperative need to think about it before. That is why the following interrogation arises : are governance and sustainable development compatible with territorial identities and more widely with territories ?
