Deskripsi

Acute pancreatitis is a chemotherapy related complication in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) that might prolong the hospital stay and delay in chemotherapeutic regimens and result in a poorer outcome. We present a girl with B-cell ALL who developed acute necrotizing pancreatitis complicated by pancreatic pseudocyst during induction chemotherapy. Chemotherapy could be received irregularly because of several pancreatitis exacerbations. Clinical and laboratory improvement were not evident after octreotide therapy. After lansoprazol was added to octreotide therapy, chemotherapy resumed without further pancreatitis episode. In conclusion, addition of proton pump inhibitor to octreotide was found to be beneficial to chemotherapy induced pancreatitis.
