Deskripsi

Pondering over the disadvantages of a non-computerized nursing practice, it can be realized that the profession itself is being undervalued, contributing for its stagnation. That situation can be evidenced when nursing prescription is not effected, and the nursing team is ultimately guided by the medical prescription, making nurses’ participation in decision-making apparently unnecessary. The implementation of a Computerized Nursing Practice (CNP) is necessary for the definition, differentiation and valuing of nursing profession as well as of its professionals besides being legally demanded according to COFEN (Federal Nursing Council) Resolution 272/ 2002. This study objectified: a) identify the reasons why Nursing Care Prescription was not being carried out in the Admittance Units of a Teaching Hospital; b) point out feasible alternatives to foster favorable nursing actions and strategies to set up, implement and consolidate nursing care prescription. Data were gathered through a questionnaire answered by 37 (thirty-seven) nurses. The result was as follows: unreliability and culture for undervaluing nursing prescription; lack of time; staff shortage; non-outlined priorities in order to carry out and organize nursing tasks; perceptions on the repercussion of work organization, quality-level of practice and professional valuing, besides feasible strategies to carry it out.
