Interdisciplinarity is scarcely studied in science education research, although it is inserted as the basis of national education in the current legislation. In order to understand how this concept has been studied on high school by science education researchers, a detailed literature review was conducted based in the national and international journals of education and in the last issues of ENPEC and EPEF meetings. As a result, a large overview allows understanding how the area faces the interdisciplinarity problem, which is defended by all the 112 papers analyzed. However, theses researches are narrow and specific, showing many problems and the need of a deeper discussion.
