Infl ammatory myopathies were analysed according to its differentpresentations, which include dermatomyositis, polymyositis andinclusion body myopathies, especially related to old age. Severalaspects were discussed such as incidence, etiology, clinical picture,diagnosis, differencial diagnosis, treatment in its various modalitiesand prognosis. The association between infl ammatory myopathies andneoplastic diseases were particularly evaluated.
