This article addresses the concept of context applied by the Qur'anic exegetes, proclaiming it the same term used by the modem linguists in 19th and 20th century. The contextual shades explained by the modem linguists have been ignored by the Qur'anic commentators while interpreting the Holy Qur'an. The modem text shaped by the modern trends of context is totally different from the context of Qur'anic text. It is true that there are many similarities between Qur'anic and modem texts, despite these similarities, comparative researchers of the Qur'anic and modem texts found many differences.
