La obra de Cicerón suele presentarse como el mejor ejemplo del republicanismo clásico, incorporando un proyecto modélico de “constitución mixta” que fue recuperado a partir de la Baja Edad Media por el humanismo cívico. Sin embargo, una lectura más detallada de las principales aportaciones filosófico-políticas del autor pone en cuestión esta visión tópica y despierta dudas en cuanto a la verdadera naturaleza del republicanismo del gran orador romano.   The work of Cicero is used to be depicted as the best example of the classical republicanism with a model of “mixed constitution”, which was to be taken on by the civic humanism from the late Middle Ages on. However, a more accurate reading of the main contributions of the author to political philosophy questions this commonplace interpretation and casts doubts about the very nature of Cicero’s real republicanism.
