Deskripsi

A comparative geographical approach allows to expose the differences of geohistorical situations, halieutic cultures and marine heritages between the Galapagos archipelago and the southwestern coast of Madagascar. These differences are however less important than the similarities between both regions, which experience the same contemporary process of geographical opening, where export fisheries play a major role. Because of this process, marine protected areas are not able to stop the plundering of halieutic ressources, which destroys exceptional marine ecosystems, drastically changes local communities, entails various conflicts and reduces therefore the possibilities of arrangements between fishermen and patrimonialization.
