In his essay Vom Erkennen und Empfinden der menschlichen Seele (1793) Herder reconstructs the broad outline of his thought about psychology. He thinks that psychological research should always go hand in hand with physiological one, in the frame of a substantial continuity between organic and inorganic nature.
