Deskripsi

Objective To compare the angles of the reference plane and different occlusal plane determined by experienced dentists and primary dentists in order to study the effect of occlusal plane plate. Methods 15 experienced dentists and 15 newly-graduated dentists independently fabricated wax occlusal rims by the Fox plane-guide. The intersection angle between the reference plane and the occlusal plane was measured and compared. Results There was statistically significant differences (t=-4.668, P<0.001) between the experienced dentists (0.2±0.1) and newly-graduated dentists (0.6±0.2) in the intersection angles of anterior occlusal plane and reference plane, but there was no clinical references because both are closer to zero degrees. A significant differences (t=-13.378, P<0.001) can be detected between the experienced dentists (0.9±0.4) and newly-graduated dentists (3.4±0.6) in the intersection angles of posterior occlusal plane and reference plane, which the former was more closer to zero degrees than the latter. Conclusion Both the experienced dentist and newly-graduated dentists can make the anterior occlusal rim accurately with the help of the Fox plane-guide. But the newly-graduated dentists are less capable to observe and orient the posterior occlusal rim compared to experienced dentists, and need more training in this area.
