Jame' al-Tirmidhi holds a vital position in the classical six Hadith corpses. Its worth has attracted the Hadith scholars to write its commentaries in the different ages. As a result, a number of commentaries of Jäme al-Tirmidhi came into being, which are said to have been more than all other commentaries of Hadith books. Amongst these Tubfah al-Ahwadhi is the most significant. It is a multi-voluminous Arabic work penned by an Indian Scholar Maulana Abdul al-Rahman Mubarakpüri (d. 1353AH). From this big work, the present article studies its preamble only. Its prelude in itself is multi- voluminous and presents vivacious matter on the subject.. This study provides the reader a comprehensive account of the contents of the prologue and methodology adopted by the learned writer for the work alongside some of essential information relevant to the science of Hadith.
