Deskripsi

One of the most interesting aspects of the Enlightenment was the generalization ot the new scientific method, wich revolutionized this sector and brought about a tremendous progression of all sciences and great advances in knowledge as we well as in everydaylife, through the proliferation of inventions and the development of techniques. The public was seduced by this impetus, and its enthusiasm made possible the publication of newspapers partially or totally devoted to the Science which, like all the press, needed a sufficient clientele to live or rather to survive. The typology of the scientific articles they offered was closely related to these conditions; including they needed to deal with themes that concern directly the readership of the regions in wich they were published. Newspapers such as the Mercurio Peruano in Lima and the Gaceta de Literatura in México help to understand this phenomenom. And, in articular, to observe the impact on American society of Science as a component of the Enlightenment, as well as its links with patriostism and the birth of Hispanic-American nations.
