This work seeks to rescue the process of contruction and valorization of Cataguases´urban space from a geo-historical perspective. Emphasis is placed on the cultural movement initiated in 1920, which projected the city nationwide: the modernism. This movement left profound landmarks in the urvan landscape of Cataguases, materialized in its literature, arts, architecture and urbanism.
