Consumers' trust and their purchasing intention via the television channel

This paper investigates the key elements influencing consumer’s trust and purchasing intention via the shopping television (TV) channels. Through the convenient sampling, questionnaires were distributed to 350 consumers who often watch TV shopping channels. With the response rate of 91%, there were 318 returned usable responses for data processing. Multiple regression was utilised to investigate expectations and hypothesis. The result shows that six main components affecting consumer’s trust are the reputation of TV shopping channels, products and services of TV shopping channels, the impact of reference groups, the celebrity guests and the master ceremony of TV shopping channels. When customers are more confident in the TV shopping channels, their purchasing intentions become more positive. The result provides some managerial suggestions to increase the consumer’s trust shopping on TV channels.
